Dr. Saulo: As one of the United States’ Ambassadors to GHI, my goal is to provide feedback on the association’s defined activities to achieve harmonization of food regulations and legislation based on my experience working with very small-, small-, medium- and large-sized food companies. We, the members of GHI, can influence regulators, legislators and other policymakers by enhancing GHI’s professional recognition and visibility through our solid science-based endeavors. I will assist in globally sharing our activities to broaden our audience base, who in turn will help us strengthen our influence in achieving global harmonization of food regulations and legislation.
Dr. Roohinejad: I was serving as the GHI Ambassador in Germany since 2016, which was a great opportunity to disseminate the activities of GHI to colleagues and others in Germany. As a new GHI Ambassador in the United States, my main goal is to promote GHI in every way possible and contribute to its success. I plan to participate at the local meetings and GHI meetings organized together with scientific meetings, such as EFFoST and the IFT Annual Meeting to represent GHI and highlight its role for the global harmonization of food safety and nutrition regulation/laws. I will respond to local disinformation specially in the west coast of the USA, organize online lectures and trainings, and write blogs for the media. As a professional member of the IFT-Nonthermal Processing Division (NPD), I am interested in preparing new international regulations related to the application of innovative processing technologies in the food industry.
