Dr. Matilda Freund holds a Doctorate and Master's degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition and a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida. Her area of specialization is food microbiology. She joined Kraft General Foods (now Mondelez International) as a microbiologist in Tarrytown, NY. During her 32 year career at the company, she held a variety of positions across a number of areas including; product development, production management, sanitation, quality, and food safety. Her most recent role was Vice President, Global Food Safety before she retired in October 2022. Matilda has a passion for food safety and she continues to engage in the industry via the Global Harmonization Initiative and the European Hygienic Design and Engineering Group (EHEDG). She is currently Treasurer and Foundation Board member of EHEDG and in the past, served on the Advisory Board and as President.
